How do I make a ShipMoney Wire Transfer?

The ShipMoney Wire Service allows Seafarer to send money directly to bank accounts worldwide.

Main cardholders can send funds to their own bank account or to accounts belonging to family and friends.

Recipients must be set up with full banking details before a transfer can be initiated.

Step 1: Create a Recipient

  1. Log in to your ShipMoney account and click Send Money, then select Send to Bank.
  2. Agree to terms if using the service for the first time by clicking I Agree on the Electronic Communications and Foreign Exchange agreements.
  3. Click +Add Recipient to start the setup.
  4. Enter the 6-digit security code sent to your email or phone and click Next.
  5. Select the Country and Currency for the destination bank account.
  6. Enter Account Details, including the Account Number (or IBAN) and the Routing Code (or SWIFT BIC).
  7. Enter Personal Details, including the recipient's exact legal name and the bank’s address.
  8. Acknowledge and confirm the details to save the recipient to your list.

Step 2: Sending Money

  1. Select the recipient from your saved list under the Send Money tab.
  2. Choose the Purpose of Payment from the drop-down menu.
  3. Enter your birth year (this should be your own birth year, not your recipient’s).
  4. Enter the Amount Seafarer wish to send and click Get Quote.
  5. Review the Quote, which shows the total amount, exchange rate, and fees.
  6. Click Confirm to process the wire transfer.

Important:

  • Accuracy is critical: The recipient's name and Bank Account No. must be 100% accurate as set up at their bank, or the wire may be delayed or returned.
  • Cancellation window: Seafarer only have 30 minutes to cancel a wire by contacting Customer Service directly; after this, it cannot be stopped.
  • Processing time: Once fully processed, funds are typically received within 7 business days.
  • Country-specific info: Some countries (like Brazil, India, or Mexico) require extra details such as a Tax ID (CPF), IFSC code, or CLABE number
  • If Seafarer wish to use other corresponding bank or intermediary bank please post a ticket via help and ask for general assistance from operations team before proceeding transfer.
